Today we visited Kilkenny Castle. We arrived there after a 2-hour drive. It is a beautiful castle which was built between 1195-1213. We learned much about its history and also visited the lovely garden in the back of the castle with a little water fountain where we could relax and sit in the sun.
After a short break, we did a self-guided tour through the castle. It was really informative and interesting. We could look at many old pictures and in every room was a QR code which you could scan and you got more information. The rooms looked nearly like they did when people really were living there. The most beautiful room was the picture gallery at the end of the tour. The room has an enormous size and because of the big windows the sunlight is spread magically.
After the castle tour we went to the city with our guide Jerry who showed us 2 old building and explained their history to us. Then we had more than an hour free time when we could go shopping or visit Kilkenny before we went back home to our host families.
